ABOUT US
Even though boxed water might not be a perfect solution to the world’s water problems, we believe it is an important step in giving people an alternative eco-friendly solution. For every box of water we sell, there’s one less bottle to pollute our beautiful planet.
At Out the Box we take the entire lifecycle of the product into consideration, which is why we have partnered with Fibre Circle to ensure that adequate recycling infrastructure exists to process and fully recycle our cartons. We contribute to Extended Product Responsibility fund which Fibre Circle uses to implement recycling programs, collection, and empower waste pickers; creating a healthy recycling ecosystem. We urge all our customers to find the closest depo here and recycle your cartons when you’re finished using them.
Our Story
Water is a fundamental right to all living beings, and healthy, clean water is essential to health. With the rise of an on-the-go lifestyle and crumbling water infrastructure; South Africa needs access to convenient, portable, safe water; but we can’t afford to continue to pollute the environment with single use plastics.
Bottled water is an environmental disaster, from production using fossil fuels and blow-molding to the end product being discarded and taking 100s of years to decompose in landfills.
At Out the Box Water, we set out to solve this problem with an innovative packaging solution: water, but in a box. Liquid beverage cartons are already a well-established and safe technology for milk, juices and other drinks; but using them for boxed water is a small step in the right direction. Our cartons are 100% recyclable, use 70% less plastic than bottles and protect the water from harmful UV rays, thus increasing it’s shelf life and re-usability.
